The 71st Annual Cannes Film Festival recentlystarted in Cannes, France, and Stacy attended various events during the festival (May 11-14). Firstly, Stacy was seen at the Quinzaine Jury photocall and the Joueurs party at the Magnum Beach (May 11). On May 12, Stacy attended the Dior dinner and the Le Monde Est A Toi party. The Sink or Swim screening was held on May 13, and finally Stacy attended The House That Jack Built screening on May 14.

Martin discusses her film “Godard Mon Amour,” in which she stars as the late French actress Anne Wiazemsky.

WWD – “I had to Google myself the other day, which was terrifying,” says Stacy Martin over a cup of coffee in the drawing room at the Crosby Street Hotel. “And I was looking, [thinking] wow, this is giving a representation of who I am, but it’s not me. Not that I was misrepresented, but I was just like — this is so weird, I feel like the person I am looking at is very different from me.”

DEADLINE – French helmer Marie Monge makes her Fortnight debut with her debut feature Joueurs starring Tahar Rahim and Stacy Martin.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival’s parallel Directors’ Fortnight section. It’s also the last one to be curated by outgoing artistic/executive director, Edouard Waintrop. The Fortnight runs May 9-18.

Why Stacy Martin is the indie film darling of the decade

INTERVIEW – Stacy Martin was introduced to the world as a sex junkie. In her 2014 film debut, she played a younger version of the title character in Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, an operatic, two-part exploration of sex addiction that included everything from a cat-o’-nine-tails to hospital intercourse. And yet, Martin didn’t flinch when tasked with depicting sex so realistic that von Trier used so-called “porn doubles” and prosthetic genitalia to sell the illusion of authenticity. It was the type of performance that many young actresses would shy away from, but it made the beguiling 28-year-old an instant star, drawing the attention of the fashion label Miu Miu, who made her the face of its first-ever fragrance.
